IRCAM Solo Instruments 2 is a software library that features 16 orchestral instruments and over 550 playing techniques, ranging from classical to experimental and extended styles. It is a collaboration between UVI and IRCAM, the world-renowned institute for research and innovation in music and sound. IRCAM Solo Instruments 2 offers a unique and creative sound resource for composers and producers who want to explore the expressive potential of these instruments beyond the common sample libraries.
The instruments included in IRCAM Solo Instruments 2 are: violin, viola, cello, contrabass, flute in C, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, alto saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, bass tuba, accordion, guitar, and harp. The library covers both standard playing styles and numerous advanced and experimental articulations, such as multiphonics, aeolian, hit-on-body, buzz and crushed, transitions like sul tasto, ordinario, and ordinario to sul ponticello, and many more. The library also allows users to control various aspects of the performance, such as legato, portamento, poly legato and poly portamento modes, play mode for stringed instruments with virtual hand positioning, dynamics section with velocity curve editor and expression control, envelopes with natural response adjustment, effects section with EQ, reverb and delay.
IRCAM Solo Instruments 2 is compatible with UVI Workstation (free) and Falcon (paid), both of which are powerful software instruments that provide advanced synthesis and sampling features. Users can load the library as a standalone application or as a plugin in their DAW of choice. The library also supports MPE and Poly Aftertouch for enhanced expression with compatible controllers.
IRCAM Solo Instruments 2 is available for purchase from UVI's website for $299 USD (regular price) or $224 USD (spring sale price until March 26th).
